  14. Great picnic and delicious food Marina- a perfect combo :-D And I love the basket. Is it a picnic basket or just a regular basket with a lid?

    1. Hi Joanna, I am glad you liked it! That basket was sold as a vintage picnic basket. I don't know how old it is, but I've seen those picnic baskets in some movies. It has an interesting overlapping handles. This basket doesn't have any inserts, and it's was well worn, probably at many picnics... :) I like it and keep it in my car to carry small things...

  17. Now this is my kind of picnic! Pie, pie, and more pie! I would certainly be happy with a serving of each of the 3 but, I must admit, I am partial to apple pie and that lattice pastry top looks oh, so very good, Marina. I don't think I'd make it to the other pies if apple were served first.

    1. Thank you John! That lattice pastry top I made out of scraps, that was left and I didn't want to waste it... As of apples, you probably have noticed, they weren't pre-cooked in butter and sugar first. I just sliced it and filled the form: that's how my grandmother use to make. Apples are cooked to the bite (al dente), and we really like it this way...

  25. Marina, Ricotta cheese and dill pie it's like a VATRUSHKA? Your picnic looks sooo good. We did not go on the picnic, we have a rain every day for a week-((

    1. Hi Yelena, no, it's not vatrushka. The ricotta pie was made by my son, and it's puff pastry dough with ricotta cheese filling. Actually, it's a good idea to make vatrushka, let's do it! :) It needs a yeast dough, so I better get started... :)
