I love making my own bread, kneading it is my meditation. I love how my home smells when I pull bread out of the oven. I love to start my day with a slice of freshly baked bread by itself or with a little jam on it, and a cup of good earl gray tea.
Nice bread Marina! Did you try to make your own Nutella yet? It would be delicious with your home baked breads! ;) Check out my recipe here: http://gregoiremichaud.com/2012/05/homemade-nutella-pinot-noir-eiswein/
When I was a student in Denmark I also was baking my very own bread and baguettes and I can confirm that all those kneading and the whole baking process can be some kind of meditation in motion but also a bit of physical activity as well;-) Now I use my bread making machine, so I still enjoy my very own bread, but the machine is doing all the work for me.
That's why I do my kneading by hands, to meditate and to work out my arms. :)Any physical activity I can get from wok around my kitchen is a big plus to me. :)
Thanks for your kind comment. I am sure you can practice and "develop" that gene, especially with all equipment available in our days. :) My first loaf wasn't that pretty not it was any soft... But I was very proud of it anyway, and kept going until I found my way to work the dough. :)
Thanks Lynn for your comment. I am with you, it is a pleasure to make your own bread. It is hard to describe emotions when you pull out of the oven that golden loaf... :)
Nice job Marina. Those breads look fantastic. What was in that first one, garlic or maybe a cheese? Makes me want to make some bread, I love the smell when it's cooking and then of course the eating it as well, LOL. Have wonderful Sunday.
Your breads look delicious. All the spreads look delicious, especially the last one! I have been thinking about buying a bread maker for awhile. Are all your breads made by hand? Do you ever use a bread maker?
Hi Sheila, Thanks for your compliments. No, I don't have a bread machine, it's all hand work. :) Few of my friends have bread machine and they like it. I do it old fashioned way, except I use stand mixer to mix all ingredients before kneading. :)
Nice pictures. I haven't made bread for quite some time. Part of the reason is I'm close to a decent bakery, so it's easy to buy quality stuff. And part of the reason is sheer laziness. No reason not to do it either, I have a good half pound or so of instant yeast in the freezer. Just need to do it.
Mmmmm yum!! and strawberry chili jam! i never had that. Did you make it yourself? the breads look all divine. making bread is indeed meditiation. although i do not make it often.
